The suction is more than enough to pull stuff off the ground but will leave behind heavy objects like gravel/rocks (that's what you want)
About 4-5 strokes and the hose started sucking and pulled dirt from the bottom of the tank. The siphon is more than enough to get things out of the ground but leave behind heavy objects like gravel/rocks (which is what you want). Worked very well with a 2.5 gallon bucket. (I don't recommend a 5 gallon bucket unless you're half full or strong enough to pour it out.) Would recommend this pump. Definitely good for the price. I also bought a plastic glass scraper with a handle.
