How to choose the heating capacity

How to choose the right heating capacity as shown in the table in the attached manual. Haven't used the heater yet but wanted this information. Outside. I put four because I had to post. I will update the performance information as soon as possible. Update: Now that I've used the heater extensively, I can report that it's a pretty good tool. It's a solid piece with hard plastic caps on both ends that feel solid. In terms of performance, it's great. I put in 2 gallons. Bucket in the 5 gallon bucket, filled the 2 gallon bucket with water, placed the heater in the 2 gallon bucket and covered with a large lawn and leaf litter bag. Then I put it on the porch (April in Indiana) and continued to check the temperature of the water. In this configuration, it can maintain the set (maximum) temperature at an outside temperature of 26 degrees. Q. I was very impressed by that. I have a 150W model. As with all aquarium heaters, the temperature shown on the dial is not accurate. Mine keeps the temp about 5 degrees above the temp set by the little green arrow above. This is not important for an aquarium heater. Always, always, always check the water temperature with a thermometer until you figure out where to place the indicator to get that temperature. The temperature difference between the set temperature and the resulting temperature is a factor in how many gallons you are trying to heat, room temperature, glass thickness, and even fresh/salt water. You need to understand this to know that an item does not malfunction just because the water temperature and the temperature on the dial do not match. Thought I'd mention this as I've seen people reject some of these heaters because the temp setting was "off" a few degrees. He didn't break. So I'm giving it five stars because it's powerful, durable, and has an easy dial to set up and read.
