Review on AURSINC MMDVM Hotspot Board + Antenna Support UHF VHF - P25 DMR YSF DSTAR NXDN POCSAG for Raspberry Pi-Zero W, Pi 3 (includes OLED Board) by Domonic Roberts

I am a 35 year old radio amateur and electrical engineer and I wanted to use Yaesu HT to connect to the YSF and DMR network. The board worked as advertised, but you can have a steep learning curve in the world of digital hotspots (I did). Get ready to spend time on the internet, reading and watching YouTube videos to connect after building your hotspot. Connect this MMDVM hotspot board to an old Raspberry Pi 3B (1GB) I had. Download the PiStar Pi OS image and follow the installation and setup instructions. No startup problems and it worked with my Yaesu FT-70D on UHF in YSF mode. Activated YSF2DMR mode, after that I was able to connect to DMR groups with my Yaesu HT. Bought a Raspberry Pi Zumspot ZRPi-1AS plastic case from C4Labs and it fits perfectly. Note: Connecting to digital networks with this hotspot was not easy for me on a plug and play basis; Although it worked, I spent many hours playing around with settings and searching the internet for help to get my YSF enabled radio to talk on the DMR network. Little things like, when you finally connect to a DMR group, you need to briefly press the PTT button on the radio so that the access point registers the connection and you can hear the DMR group's conversations. This fact has not been documented anywhere that I could find. But now that I've been through it all, it's a pleasure to use. Another note: the OLED display on this board is "OLED Type 3" in the PiStar configuration menu.
