Review on πŸ”§ Dorman 590-001 Fuel Pump Driver Module for Select Models (OE FIX): Enhanced Performance and Durability by Dusty Tofte

It should slowly lower like any other hand winch

This was an instant fix for my 2006 F-150 which was not working properly. You could say he wanted to take off but got no fuel. If you buy an OBD port scanner I believe it shows up as p1091 and in the code book it's described as a CKT/Performance fuel rail pressure sensor. At first I thought it was the sensor under the hood, but it turned out to be just above the spare tire next to the rear axle. The spare tire removal (or lowering) tool is located behind the passenger seat in the truck and is concealed by a retractable plastic strip. At least that's how it is in my 2006 F-150 sport cockpit, it can also be somewhere else in your cockpit and be divided into 3 or 4 parts. You need to take your hook and thread it through the bar with the square hole in the middle. Then click the other 2 or 3 in a row. You need your key to remove the lock that protects your spare tool from theft. Mine was completely rusted and my key didn't work. I ended up knocking it out with a hammer almost effortlessly. If you do not remove this lock your tool will not be able to enter the shaft at the correct angle and you will not be able to lower the part. Once you feel it engage, it should slowly lower like any other manual winch. I lowered mine completely to the floor and leaned on it when installing the fuel pump module rather than removing it entirely to save time. Be patient and carefully disconnect the cable connection. Remove old module, install new one. Should start immediately, also check if the module fuse is blown in the fuse box next to the steering wheel or in the passenger dash area (in case of starting problems). Check your OBD scanner and make sure there are no other pending trouble codes that need to be fixed. This worked great for me, easy to fix, garage charges 3-500

Pros
  • This is great
Cons
  • Requires an outlet
