I purchased this and the genuine GM evaporator canister purge solenoid valve 12597567 to troubleshoot the engine check code P0449 on my 2008 5.3L Silverado. After replacing both parts, my CEL went during the 4th truck trip, which has driven approx. 100 km since the parts were installed. This was a great relief after having the light on for 3 years (I'm lazy). I used a heat gun to remove the long, flexible, corrugated hose from the old vape tank and vent filter and used two hose clamps to secure the hose. Connection when I reused the hose on new parts. The short stiff tube couldn't be removed without melting it completely so I cut it off and used about half of the heater hose and clamped - the heater hose has to be much longer than the stiff tube to accommodate the bends. without flexion.
