well it works, yes it's quite noisy but: there is a 5 second delay when the alarm goes off, it's not instantaneous. While not particularly important, it's a little annoying if you don't know it's happening when you test it. Placement: For some reason the horn will not work if it is more than about ten feet away from the base's actual alarm system. I don't know if this is due to the base station using a radio frequency to mute the audio signal or if it is a signal sent down the ground wire of your home electrical system. Since the power horn doesn't have a ground pin, I would guess RF. I use this in a large store and when it's out of the ten foot range it doesn't work at all. The alarm tone is high-pitched, which is actually quite annoying and loud, but loses power when heard outside the building or in another room. Overall, like most X10 products I've used, they (sort of) work and are affordable.
