
If you're still using regular tip drills for pen blanks, you don't know what you're missing out on. This drill is faster, cleaner and safer. Faster because it just REMOVES the chips - less chips getting stuck in the flutes means less up and down motion with the drill. Cleaner because less sticking in the grooves means less burning. It is also centered at the beginning of the hole, just like a drill with a sharp tip. And safer (for your blank) as its design greatly reduces the chance of it being ejected when it exits the bottom of the blank. I have no idea what I was missing.
