I'm a slow learner diagnostician so I get a good set of keys. Yes I have a collection of keys (laughs aside lol) each one requires the use of my phone and sometimes it comes in very handy. But sometimes I need a phone to talk to support or a customer or even to investigate my issue and that's more difficult when that device is also connected to the car. The Thinkscan MAX does that for me, it's the easiest thing to do. A tablet dedicated to its own ThinkDiag Mini. So now it's a complete tablet that can run all the diagnostics I need, just like my phone. But now, with the help of a special device, I can always have my phone at hand and literally in my hand. .Of course I could of course buy another old phone or tablet with mediocre support and updates. Today it is a new device with many updates. In addition, it is a specially molded case from which the Thinkdiag Mini key can be easily but safely removed. Results. My two test subjects that I'm sharing in this review are a 1998 Chevy K1500 and a 2008 Ford Taurus X. The '98 didn't have an automatic VIN. I wasn't connected to the internet at the time, which can make a difference. But it's a 22-year-old truck, so I wasn't surprised in any way. Manual VIN entry and a few RPO options later and I was in business with no problems. Tons of O2 codes and I can read real time data. no problem. The second is ten years younger and on the other side of the American map, Ford. This car has many modules of instrument cluster, AWD system, engine computer, air conditioning etc. etc. This time Thinkscan MAX had no problems with AutoVin, could not only do those Read codes and generate a very detailed report (same for '98), but there's a Ford feature for further diagnostics with a built-in self-test that activates and powers various parts of the electric transmission. Again, I am SUPER satisfied with this device. Think did a great job developing a dedicated tray for the Mini Module. I had such a great fit too, this is mine now and the only one I ride in daily, key collection stays in store now.
