UPDATE 3/23/2021: I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT FOR SAFETY REASONS. I used it today (probably the 10th, 12th time I've used it for small jobs here and there) and the hose started to swell where it enters the torch handle! Luckily this happened before I lit the torch and I noticed it before it exploded (thank GOD). The hose barb actually lets the propane back through the fitting and into the hose casing! Even if I turn off the gas on the cylinder and depressurize the gas in the line itself, squeeze the handle and fully open the valve, the hose stays filled with propane! Attention, this is a VERY dangerous situation! If it did explode when I actually did set something on fire, I would have burst into flames and likely severely burned myself, if not killed. If you have this torch the supplied hose can fail catastrophically! I DO NOT RECOMMEND CONTINUING USE OF THIS PRODUCT UNLESS THE MANUFACTURER RECALLS OR REPLACES THE DEFECTIVE HOSES! Revain: Please speed up updating this review for security reasons. Also please notify prospects who may have purchased this. Please disregard the rest of this review as it is no longer applicable as of March 23, 2021. Hooked this up directly to one of my propane tanks. The ignition button works with two hands. The firing button isn't rigid, you can move it back and forth etc. which allows you to position it almost anywhere. But I didn't put it anywhere, it was convenient or you could press gas and ignition with one hand. But maybe that's good. I believe using both hands to light a giant propane lamp is probably the way to go, just to be safe. In my opinion, enough flame. To be honest it is good for many uses including weed control, burning oil spills, melting snow and ice etc. However, it does mention that it can be used for soldering. Maybe copper tubing, but certainly not wires. If you're using this to solder wires, you might want to ask for help. The hose that comes with it is ok, but not very long. Less than 7 feet. There are propane carts and backpacks that can be purchased for use with a propane tank if you don't want to lug it around with the flashlight. If you have a lot of land to cover, you need something like this. I recommend keeping both hands free when using it and it doesn't hurt to have a fire extinguisher nearby in case something is burning that isn't on the fire list. This gives a very intense, significant flame, and you don't want to be surprised. The construction is quite good, all valves and rigid pipe sections are made of brass or steel. Valve operation is fairly smooth, no leaks. It has a good range of adjustment, but why you would use it to create a small flame is a mystery. I didn't see anything that would make me flinch or complain. Overall it makes a very well constructed impression. I've wanted one of these for a while. I had 3 or 4 propane burners but this is the only burner that manages them all. It does exactly what I want it to do, which is spit hot fire, and nothing I don't want it to do like spit fire at me or explode. A long hose would be nice, but if it were 30 feet someone would say the same thing, so my complaints are few and far between. I think it's great and will just look for reasons to use it. highlighted.
