Throttle body replacement for 2006 Nissan Altima Had to go to dealer to reset

On the one hand this product was MUCH cheaper than a Nissan factory part. A point for Hitachi. It looked exactly like the factory part it replaced, except the factory part had both Nissan and Hitachi logos embossed on it, while this one only had Hitachi. Altima throttle body (on I4 at least, not sure on V6) you need to reset the engine computer. There is a complex sequence of turning the key, depressing the throttle several times and then holding it for a few seconds to reset the throttle position. If this doesn't happen, the idle "jumps" constantly from 1000-1500 rpm. It runs fine, but it just doesn't run right. I've tried the reset sequence several times since installing this TBI but never got it to reset properly. I ended up having to go to the dealership to have Nissan hook it up to their computer to do a reset. So my experience was a bit spoiled. For one thing, it's generally cheaper to buy that throttle body and pay the dealership to reset it than to buy an expensive Nissan throttle body. Just keep in mind that this is not some kind of "screw and go" repair, you will need to restart your computer in order for it to work properly.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • So like that
