I have a set of knitting needles that I like, but over time there has been a slight gap between the metal and wood on the knitting needles that I use most. In the end I wanted something made out of metal. You are perfect. As you can see, Knitter's Pride vs. Knit Picks have a plain needle for attaching the cord. Cable attachment is just as tight and secure, and cables are interchangeable between brands. I have personally found that Knitter's Pride line stays smooth and is just as flexible as Knit Picks line which develops small tears that cause yarn to snag. I first chose Knit Picks because I found wooden needles as a new knitter. to be more forgiving (I had fewer stitches due to the wood's soft resistance). In hindsight I would buy a cheap starter set of bamboo needles and invest in them when you feel more confident.
