Review on ๐Ÿ”ง Gardner Bender GS-388 Electrical Pliers, Crimper & Cutter: Comfort Grip, 8 in. Hand Tool for Aluminum & Copper Wire (Red) by Matt Morgan

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good crimpers for the cheap price.

After about 45 years I seem to have lost sight of my Thomas & Betts WT111M crimping machine and rather than keep looking for it and never get new cables on my trailer brakes I went to an inexpensive alternative. ..hope my missing pliers will show up again one day. The only minor criticism I have of them is that the shorter handles require a little more compression than the longer handles on my missing T&B crimper. Otherwise they do their job and the pliers/cutter at the top was very helpful under the trailer where I didn't have much room. I have combination crimping pliers behind the hinge, but they are very difficult to use in tight spaces. What I received was exactly as pictured and most of the negative reviews seem to be for the jaw alignment but mine was fine so if it's not send them back and get another pair because for around $10 you can Can't go wrong limited tool in my opinion. As a former electrician I would have preferred the T&B for everyday use but I wouldn't have a problem with it either and I think G&B make a decent range of power tools. The grip probably won't last as long as a premium brand, but if you crimp a lot you'll probably be looking for a better pair. No complaints and the wiring work on the trailer is now done and is in the tool box until the next job.

Pros
  • Lots of good vibes
Cons
  • No power
