Let's empty your tank. IMPORTANT: Take out small fish to avoid accidentally killing them. 1: Install the black valve adapter on your faucet. You need to unscrew the handle of the faucet strainer by twisting.2. After installing the black valve adapter, connect the hose to the nozzle outlet on the black side that comes out of the adapter.3. Take the other end (the part that soaks up the water) and make sure your long transparent hose is not attached to it. The reason I took it off is because it keeps coming off and ruining the water drain suction. If you decide to use it, make sure to put it under water horizontally.4. You will need two people for the next part unless you can prevent the suction nozzle from coming out of the aquarium. So have one person hold the suction end underwater while you turn on the tap water to fill the hose. (NOTE: Please take out smaller fish, if you have big fish it should be ok). A clear tube can kill your little fish if you're not careful. After the person holding the suction end feels water coming out, turn off the water and pinch the end of the hose on the faucet and pull that end out to drain the water. Make sure the drain hose is under your tank for a quick drain. Do not let the other end come out of the water in the aquarium or you will lose your suction and will have to repeat the above steps. You can also vacuum at the suction nozzle without the transparent hose. If you want to use a transparent tube, you can use a very thin piece of tape and wrap it around the end and then insert it into the suction part. This ensures a tight fit. How much water should be removed? Before making a decision, determine what type of fish you have. I have larger goldfish so they can handle 70/30 (leaving 30% old water and 70% clean water. Make sure your clean water is room temperature). If it feels cold you are more likely to shock your fish and it could kill them. So you want the water to be the right temperature for your fish (call your local pet store if you are unsure) . NOTE: Small fish will have a harder time with this large change in water ratio, so try 60/40 or 50/50 to be safe. Remember to add water conditioner as needed and make sure you add less than the recommended amount. Be a good god to your fish and spend time with them. Peace, Love and Happiness to all.
