Multilayer Coated Carbide Milling Insert Review: Good for Steel Lathe Processing, but not for Aluminum

I have been using the Multilayer Coated Carbide Milling Insert Round RPMT10T3 MOE JS (R5) for a while now, and overall, I'd rate it at 3 stars out of 5. The advantage of this product is that it is a pack of 10, so you have multiple inserts to work with. The insert is also indexable, which makes it suitable for use with CNC milling machines. It is also well-suited for steel and stainless steel lathe processing, as long as the RPM is adjusted accordingly. However, I did notice that this insert is not ideal for aluminum processing. The multilayer coating tends to rub off more quickly and doesn't hold up as well as other products I've used. Additionally, the manufacturer's instructions are not very clear, so you may need to do some research to figure out the best way to use it. In summary, the Multilayer Coated Carbide Milling Insert Round RPMT10T3 MOE JS (R5) is a decent option for steel and stainless steel lathe processing, but not recommended for aluminum.

Pros
  • With a multilayer coated carbide construction, this milling insert is highly resistant to wear and tear, ensuring long-term durability even when used for heavy-duty machining tasks
Cons
  • Limited Compatibility: The milling insert is only applicable to CNC milling machines and is not suitable for manual milling machines, which limits its usage
