Review on Canon PowerShot Compact Digital Camera by James Khalifa

The Canon PowerShot G9 X Mark II is an updated version of Canon's premium compact entry-level G9 X camera. I was looking for a small camera to take with me when I didn't want to lug around DSLRs and lenses. After a lot of research I settled on the PowerShot G9 X Mark II and am very happy with the results so far. Premium compact cameras give the user manual control over settings (shutter speed, aperture, ISO) as well as the traditional "automatic" point-and-shoot mode, as well as other creative settings commonly used in point-and-shoot mode will. These cameras are also equipped with a 1-inch CMOS sensor that provides better image quality than a traditional cell phone camera. Continuous shooting at 8.2 fps in RAW shooting mode). The Mark II also features dual image stabilization, faster autofocus and improved subject tracking, an automatic capture mode and marginally longer battery life. The Mark II is also compatible with Bluetooth, a new feature (the camera also has Wi-Fi and NFC capabilities). Transferring photos from your camera to your phone is easy with the Canon Camera Connect app. I've been using the camera for a few weeks and I love it. The camera is small (it literally fits in my front pocket) and the large 3-inch touchscreen is relatively intuitive (the camera has a limited number of buttons). The user can control almost everything via the touchscreen and I found the screen visibility to be still very good for daylight shots. The range of the lens itself is limited, but what you lose in zooming it makes up for in photo quality and compactness. The focal length of the Canon G9X II lens is 28-84mm with 3x optical zoom and 12x digital zoom, resulting in grainy photos. The maximum aperture is F/2 at 28mm and F4.9 at 84mm. I have attached photos showing shots at 28mm, 50mm, 84mm and maximum zoom. This camera's zoom doesn't give you a close-up of the moon. There is also a ring on the lens barrel that can be used to adjust various settings. There is no viewfinder. Overall I am very happy with this camera. The only downside right now was the battery life, but the battery life I've experienced might have come from setting up the camera and using its various features. However, it probably makes sense to buy and carry a spare battery if you're going to be shooting all day. Highly recommended!
