All JPEG images attached are direct from G9X II

I bought this Canon G9X II camera for my wife before going to Yellowstone. Personally, I use a full-frame DSLR and am pretty picky about my photos. I'm very impressed with the G9X II. I've attached some JPEG images taken straight from the camera (SOOC). NONE OF THE APPLIED PHOTOS HAVE ANY POST PROCESSING. I included my photo only to show skin tone, not to showcase my gear. I've included a photo of a moose because it was in very low early morning light and was shot at ISO 12800. The 1 inch…

GREAT little compact camera

I've had this camera for a little over three years now. I bought it because I wanted something that could easily fit in my pocket, that I can travel with, but still take better pictures than my phone. In essence, this camera was designed for a good compromise between image quality, including low light, and overall size. I think it takes very good photos. Certainly not as good as full frame. But since I'm so small, I actually grab it and carry it with me. He's been in Africa, all over the US…

Love this camera as a pocket replacement for a DSLR

I bought this camera because it was the only 1 inch camera of its generation that actually fit in my pocket and I'm MORE tired of it lugging around my camera bag all day - I literally plan my trips around "camera bag days" because I felt so stuck. My multi lens DSLR kit was heavy so I stripped it down to a compact DSLR and a spare lens but then I got frustrated that I had to wrestle with any size bag all day so I gave up and bought a 1 -inch pocket sensor camera. I wouldn't get anything lower…

Great little camera

Great little camera. Honestly, if you want the highest image quality in the smallest profile possible, this camera is for you. Should I update the original? I think it depends on what's important to you. If you think you're going to use some in-camera raw processing and more in-depth customization of Picture Styles, it's something to consider. While the JPEGs are a bit sharper due to the newer processor, the overall image quality is about the same. Photos look great with great color…

Important missing features really hurt the overall package

Let's get one thing straight ahead. Whether you shoot only in daylight and only shoot stationary targets, or shoot in full manual mode most of the time, I'm sure this camera will suit you. Family, especially my four year old boy's adventures and misadventures. We spend quite a bit of time indoors and it's winter now so there isn't much light most days. My primary goal is to move around a lot and not tolerate framing, fiddling with settings, or slow shutter speeds. That's why I spend a lot of…

Reliable premium compact camera that takes great photos

The Canon PowerShot G9 X Mark II is an updated version of Canon's premium compact entry-level G9 X camera. I was looking for a small camera to take with me when I didn't want to lug around DSLRs and lenses. After a lot of research I settled on the PowerShot G9 X Mark II and am very happy with the results so far. Premium compact cameras give the user manual control over settings (shutter speed, aperture, ISO) as well as the traditional "automatic" point-and-shoot mode, as well as other creative…

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Really don't like it's ok
