Review on Street Guardian SGDCHW SG9663DC Hardwire by Brian Weese

Revainrating 5 out of 5

great addition to the Street Guardian DVR

I installed this on a 2018 Honda Clarity. I have to agree with another reviewer who said the PDF instructions are missing, but there is so much general information on the web about this type of setup that I don't think it's worth deducting a star for. Once installed, it works perfectly to power the DVR. The main reason I bought it was so that I could use the parking mode, but I also really like that all the cables are now completely hidden. The kit includes fuse taps that allow you to add the DVR and its fuses to the fuses currently in use. Be sure to buy a set of suitable fuses! Clarity has a few unused backup locations and someone else did the work of figuring out which of the empty bins are ACC/always on/etc. were, so I didn't have to plug in an existing fuse. If you search the internet you will probably find that someone has done this for your car as well. Otherwise, you can use the circuit tester yourself, it's not difficult. I wasn't sure if I could use the fuse tap with only one fuse. Luckily the internet was full of information so I was able to determine that the fuse that came with this kit should be in the top (outside) location on the fuse tap and the bottom location should be left blank. I used fuse location C02 to knock the ACC fuse and C18 for battery/always on. That works great.
