I bought a couple of these devices to try to provide a stable internet connection in an area with intermittent Wi-Fi coverage where it's not that easy to get a to establish an Ethernet connection. but the cable wiring is already there. I tried connecting them using the existing wiring in my house but couldn't connect. My computer showed that it was connected, but the device's IP address is invalid. So I tried a "best case" test by connecting the pairs together with 6 foot coax cable. I tested the ethernet connection without DECA and got 350 Mbit/s. I unplugged the cable from my laptop, plugged it into one of the DECA adapters and used another Cat6e cable to connect the other DECA adapter to the laptop and then ran the same speed test. With adapters, the speed dropped to 30 Mbit/s. And that with only 6 feet of coaxial cable, without splitters or the like. I was expecting something close to 100Mbps in this setting. I don't need this connection to be lightning fast, but 1/3 of the advertised speed in an ideal scenario just doesn't cut it.
