Review on 6 Inch Quick Release Drill Press Vise With LLDSIMEX Quick Grip Technology by James Yarbrough

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Nice Vice! on my review.

This quick release drill press vice by LLDSIMEX is a huge upgrade to my previous 3" vice. This is my first vice with a quick adjust mechanism and this one performs very well so far. Much quicker to set up and adjust than my old screw handle vice and this type of mechanism has the advantage of not dealing with the sometimes restrictive use of a traditional rotary handle. This is a fairly heavy duty vice for your average drill press and with a footprint of around 12" x 6" it may not fit well with smaller tables. Contrary to the listed product weight, this weighs in at 18.2 pounds (8.25kg). It's hefty but it will definitely help to keep your work steady when drilling.Depending the the job, I won't always secure the vice but it does have lugs for use with your drill press table if it has the channels to accommodate it. Bolts are not included but I am able to use a table clamp or some short 1/2" bolts with washers if needed for extra security when drilling larger holes. For the price, the machining on the base of this vice appears to be good and assuming that your table is perfectly flat, this vice sits very stable. The sliding jaw mechanism is very smooth and a flush type grease fitting is incorporated for maintenance. The jaws are recessed to allow for inserts or pads without losing too much of the opening capacity. You will need some kind of insert or spacer if you need to clamp anything less than 1/8".So far I'm really enjoying using this vice and considering its size, I can use it to clamp work in other situations besides the drill press table. For the current price of around $67 this is a well built and quality finished workshop vice. Solid 5 stars and strongly recommended.

  • The all-metal construction can make the vise heavy and difficult to maneuver, especially when trying to make precise adjustments
