And since my nose is also connected to the body that pays the bills, it has the final say. According to the instructions, I wash the carbon material first to knock off the dust. Once dry, I mix a small amount directly into the litter after each layer and a little more into the collection bag underneath. The product doesn't completely eliminate the cat odor and doesn't increase the time between necessary filler changes, but I wasn't expecting that. I only use it as part of an overall odor control strategy. I only gave it 4 stars because the value for money is a bit skewed for my specific use.
