Great Scraper, Terrible Chopper

This is a pretty essential tool for baking bread. It is excellent for scraping dough from all types of surfaces. This is especially useful when working with sticky no-knead recipes. It's also great for separating dough or moving pieces around. And the all-metal construction makes it easy to clean when things get sticky. And it gets sticky if you use it properly. However, I disagree that it counts as a grinder. Knives are designed for cutting. This thing isn't sharp, and sharpening with a stone will likely just ruin it and make it harder to use as a scraper. It's not cutlery steel, so I don't expect it to hold an edge anyway. Of course you can slide the blade through some vegetables, but you can also try slicing with a spatula. If you need a chopper of this shape, take the Ulu. Or even better, learn how to use a chef's knife. This scraper does a great job of scraping, but it can't even be called a paper shredder.

Pros
  • Great kitchen tool with many uses! Designed for scraping and separating bread dough, it can also be used for scraping, shredding, chopping and measuring!
