I wanted to protect my new car and I knew about the special front cutout. But it was too expensive to justify. Then I saw this Rocker Panel Guard from the same company. After further research, I confirmed that this footage is exactly the same as the custom cutout. After some discussion and justification of this cost, I finally placed the order. As it's not custom made you really need to plan before you even cut the material to make sure the placement is right, especially if you're working with a curved area (this was for a 2010 Accord, btw). Caution: Make sure your cut is a little longer than you actually need. It's better to trim off the excess than leave it borderless. After deciding on the positioning, I went to their website to watch their videos. YOU MUST WATCH THIS or you will repeat it. Basically you need two spray bottles, one with baby shampoo mix, so the foil can slide more easily when positioning; The second is an alcohol-water rubbing mixture that helps stick to the body. This is very important as you will need to stretch some areas (e.g. around a bent corner) and you want the foil to stay in place. Plan a few hours for this, especially the first time. Also remember to squeeze out all the water when positioning, otherwise you will tear off the film. Spray the shampoo mixture to stop sticking, then spray the alcohol mixture to reapply. If I were to review this I would choose not to buy it for now. However, your effort, frustration (and a bit of swearing) will be worth it when you're done. The film is almost invisible. Even if I knew where the edge was, I would look for it. It worked so well that I applied it to the front of the hood as that is the most visible area of paint chipping that people notice. I also put it on the rear bumper just next to the trunk as that's where you get scratches from the patina (parents, this is necessary to avoid scratching that area). Well, I said earlier that the film is practically invisible. However, this only applies to metallic paintwork. Since I had a lot of tape left, I stuck it to the front edge of my wife's car. Your car is red, not metallic red. After I put it on, the film is definitely visible. So if you don't want it to be visible, I suggest you don't wear it. As for my wife, she decided to keep it because, although she has had it for less than a year, the car already has a few chips from driving on the freeways. Me? I'm still amazed that I have to get close to even see the film and I will put the film on my future cars. Result. If you don't want those pesky paint chips on the front of your car and are willing to spend hours applying this film then I recommend you do it. It's the best investment you can make to keep your car looking new for longer. If you want protection without the hassle BUT are willing to pay a lot more then visit the Xpel website and they have a list of authorized resellers/installers across the country to do the dirty work. Some even have a cutting machine to cut out the perfect design on site and apply it for you (read lots of money). Me? I'd rather use that money to buy more Revain gadgets.
