I was visiting friends who bought the exact same filter a few weeks ago and were very impressed. He sent me a link on Amazon where he bought it and I bought the exact same device. It was the same price he paid and the same model advertised. When I received the device it did NOT have a partial digital screen on the front as seen in many photos and like my friends it also did NOT have an auto sensor like other devices. Thinking I might have a bad one, I called the company. When I told them about my problem, I was first told that it is built in and automatically detects and the fan speed will increase by itself. I called the guy because I lit a flame with smoke over the unit and he did nothing when it was set to level 1. The guy then told me to give him a minute to check it out. Returning to the phone, he said those features that the device lacked would no longer be offered. Being an ethical business owner myself, I find this highly unethical and a deception to the consumer. I understand they may have lower margins now when selling on Amazon, but removing features from a device and not changing the model number or informing consumers and still charging the same price is consumer fraud. They've probably taken about $50 in installments, giving them an additional 10% profit if they can entice consumers to buy the "same" product at the same price. I will be reaching out to Amazon about this as well, hoping others don't. Don't be fooled or hope that the company will make a new model and list features and it's clear that the old model has been discontinued.
