These shakers are made of hardwood. I can't believe the price is so low. Check price for handmade. You can easily spend anywhere from $100 to $150. They are also the perfect size. I don't like regular large or super large restaurant style ones; Pretty tasteless and an eyesore for me. This, on the other hand, is the perfect size. Closer to 8 inches with a nice brass adjuster on top, these little ones look sharp and won't overpower your dining table. We leave them on the table as fixtures and they look very nice. They also have just the right amount of pepper and rock salt (I used very coarse Himalayan salt - we love it!) so we don't have to be so quick to replace them. I love this article!
