use in the real world. Nothing like their ad. But it's a fun trick if you have time to waste.

I'm a contractor who needs to know what's in the walls. We use a Fluke thermal imaging camera and a variety of spike finders and other methods including ground penetrating radar and X-rays. When I saw this unit for sale I was intrigued as it would be nice to have tool bags for all my employees without having to worry about them being lost, stolen or damaged. We tried this device with Google Pixel and Samsung Galaxy. Both were extremely easy to set up to use the software. We've found that the only mode worth using is Expert Mode, and it's as inaccurate as a regular spike finder. A small amount of drywall dirt can cause this device to lose its aiming lock entirely. The device will not function properly on textured walls. Almost all walls have a light texture. We have found that even a very light texture greatly affects the accuracy of the device. In addition, the device will not find electrical wires or pipes unless they are close to the surface being tested. We've tried to reproduce the tests shown in the video, but to no avail. An electrical engineer, a software engineer, and a lead electrical engineer tried this device here in our offices with similarly poor results. You seem to get what you pay for. Maybe the $500 model is better. We believe this device is a gimmick and should not be purchased by someone looking for over 40% accuracy. When we contacted customer service as shown in the tutorial video to let us know about the location in the lathe and the plastered walls. We've been told by the support team that the device will not work with woodturning and plaster walls, but there may be a software update in the future that will fix this issue. The standard deep scan zircon finder works on lathes and wall plaster, so it may be better to purchase a deep scan zircon product.

Pros
  • Detection range: ten centimeters deep into the wall.
Cons
  • Long delivery
