Previously - It was Hitachi, now these drives are produced by Western Digital, so they do not differ in any way from similar 7200 rpm WD drives - not in noise, not in operating temperature - absolutely the same technical characteristics! (Less noise level and lower operating temperature only for 5400 rpm drives!) I got a drive released in December 2022. I installed it in an external box paired with a "Seagate" 8 TB, and Seagate turned out to be noisier in practice and 2-3 degrees higher than HGST with the same overall cooling! I do not agree with the authors of the previous comments about the strong crackling - most likely there were discs from a defective batch .
