I bought this to replace a beautiful stone in a 3 stone set I bought a while ago. This -> DMT W6EFC Three 6" diamond whetstones in a hardwood box <-. As with my review of this set, this stone is no different. It's still in great shape and still sharpens blades up to 8 inches very well. This is the size constraint I use for these stones. The only reason I had to buy this replacement stone is because I use this particular sand quite often; I have quite a few knives and other bladed tools that I use regularly for various reasons and ALL the stones wear out over time. the sharp edge of your blades, but to get that razor sharp or scary edge you need to sharpen your blades with something gritier, like a superfine version of this stone, a leather belt. etc. I personally will switch to a super thin stone and then use a leather strap. With good knives, this combination always allows me to get a blade that cuts almost anything I tried to cut. - Sharpen blades. It's not difficult to learn, but you need to be patient to learn how to use the stone properly.
