Penelope, a female Syrian hamster lives with me. So no animal with huge rodents, like a guinea pig or a chinchilla. Not a ball, of course, but got stuck somewhere for less than ten minutes*, gnawed through one of the latches holding the lid, and crawled out. She has never eaten other toys, although she tried very hard. So this product is good if: you have an animal with no teeth or an animal that doesn't like to run away. This product is bad if: you have an animal that likes to run away, or you don't want your animal to swallow plastic shavings. I had this ball for about three weeks until it broke the lid. In fact, it wasn't a good investment money-wise. (*ten minutes = the time between the last time I saw her rolling around happily in the ball and the last time I saw her walking free - the ball was out of sight. So she gnawed through pretty quickly.)
