My only complaint about this is that I wish there were more than 8 icicles. They are not as big and cannot stretch as far as we would like. The lights are enclosed in an icicle-shaped plastic housing. I assume they can be indoors and out, but not in freezing weather. The cable and wires between the lights are very thin and made of transparent plastic. What I like about them is the chase effect that gives the illusion of melting ice. i have pink They're a bit out of sync on 2 Icicles, but hopefully that's not common. My neighbors have white lights on top of their garage - their only decoration outside - and they cross in sync and look just like the neon signs of yesteryear! The effect of melting ice. I love it. They would at least go through most garage doors - the cord was quite tangled when I opened it and at first I thought I might not be able to untangle it, but it turned out ok; not as confusing as it looked! Very cool lights.
