I bought these salt and pepper grinders because I wanted something that didn't grind salt and pepper with plastic. It seems to be what I was looking for as the grinder is made of ceramic material. However, the bottom grinder is held in place with a small plastic rod and secured to the base with two small screws and this is a design flaw. If the little plastic retaining strap fails, the grinder will no longer be able to function as the bottom ceramic part is now loose, allowing the salt or pepper to simply clog the bottom and never be ground and released! The product only lasted 14 months with very moderate use. I would not recommend these grinders.
