I installed a 3000 lb winch on the front of my garden tractor. After 2 years the F/R contactor failed. It was a cheap winch and I accepted that when I bought it. Bought to replace a broken contactor. Rocker switch properly connected. No problem. The +/- to the winch was reversed as I thought, but swapping the wires was trivial. I pocketed it and pulled about a dozen 10- to 15-foot sections of downed black locus from the edge of our forest to cut. 500 lbs to 1000 lbs depending on section thickness. It worked perfectly. The only negative I have is the sound it makes. When I tested after installation, the sound the contactor made closing made me wince. The SNAP noise when closed was about three times louder than the original piece. Screwed to the inside of the sheet metal fender, this noise caused a real rumble inside the tractor. I thought my battery had shorted or it was the end of the world. I pulled the contactor out, put some thick double sided tape on the underside and reinstalled it. It helped with the sound a little.
