I was so excited about this tree topper, it is really beautiful, specially with the color and the tinny flashing lights.Then, I tried to place it on my tree and I was so dissapointed.The Star is way to heavy, I couldn't find a way to put it up because it kept tipping over. My Christmas tree is a strong metal 7.5 feet tall one. The spring in the base of the tree topper star is a rigid structure, it was not designed to be unfolded and wrapped around the top branch. I even tried to use it as a table ornament but, of course, it was useless for this purpose. Frustration! So, we came up with the idea of using a wood stick attached to the center of the tree and only that way we got good support for the star (see the picture). I am thinking, if the structure was made of a different material, something lighter, or if it was possible to be unfold and to be wrapped around the tree branch, or even clipped to it.The other thing that I think could make it better would be adding a clip to the battery case. The batteries are hanging of the star unless, again, you find a way to attach it to the tree.There are 3 possible positions for the lights: Off, Timer and On. However, I don't know how to make the timer work. There was no instructions, or anything else, written on the box. Not helpful at all.Now, I guess the only thing yet to discover about this beautiful Star is how long is it going to last.So far, it's been too much of a trouble for me so I am not really happy about it.
