Review on Stay Prepared with FosPower 4000mAh NOAA Emergency Weather Radio (Model D2) by Broderick Cash

Update: Got a replacement radio. The 1st problem I mentioned before seems to be solved with this. The radio seems to stick to the weather station I set it to in alarm mode (rather than randomly switching it each time), so I'm increasing my rating to 3 stars. This was the main issue. If the battery drain issue is also resolved and there are no other major issues, I'll upgrade my rating to 4 or 5 stars. I had 2 serious problems with this radio - 1. very serious. ▪︎ 1) I bought it because of the NOAA weather alert feature. However, the 1st radio itself changed the station it was listening to without my knowledge, which could have disastrous consequences. The replacement does not have this problem. Also note that when the weather alert feature is on, it will show 162.40 no matter which station you select. However, it doesn't stop at 162.40 unless you set it there. The video belongs to the 1st radio. Fear). Then I press the alarm button again to disable the alarm function and the radio turns on. I have to switch bands to get back to the weather band and it should be at the station I left it at. BUT IT IS NOT. It is at 162.50. Not 162.47. I have now set an alarm on this station. Do the same dance, this time pushing to 162.50. Repeat the dance. This time it's 162.47, not 162.50. Repeat the dance, this time at 162.45 instead of 162.47. It was totally unreliable. Again, the exchange does not have this problem. ▪︎2) Also, the first block showed the expected battery usage/consumption up to 50%. It was then quickly used up and was empty within an hour. This happened when I first used it. The second time, after fully charging the batteries, I put the walkie-talkie into alert mode in the early evening and the next morning the batteries were completely dead. I even replaced the batteries with a new higher capacity kit I have and charged them fully. However, there was no difference in performance. This particular issue is not unique to the radio I received with this order. I had previously tried the same radio under a different brand and had the same problem with batteries draining quickly after reaching 50% of their capacity on the display. However, I did not see the first problem above with this other brand.
