Ok, first of all we have a GE induction range and this 1.2 liter kettle works great on it. The part that is magnetic on the bottom (needed for induction) is a rim around the edge on the bottom. The center of the bottom isn't magnetic, but that doesn't matter, so the "magnet test" can be misleading if you don't place the magnet in the right place. Second, the build quality of the kettle is superb. The handle is strong and securely welded to the body of the kettle at four points. No rust on the inside and outside welds. The filler neck is also firmly welded and does not leak. Third, the temperature sensor is absolutely accurate and accurately measures the room temperature even when not in use! Fourth, the lid stays securely closed during pouring. Precisely controlled spout so you get the right amount of water on the floor. I followed the instructions and filled the kettle 80% (to the bottom of the top ring - about 32oz/1litre), placed the kettle on the smallest induction eyelet on top of the stove and set the cooking temperature to 'high'. ". " and the pot reached 200 F (the temperature you want for coffee (no boiling) in almost exactly 4 minutes (I live at 3000 feet so yours may work differently at a lower or higher elevation). Because you don't want the water to actively boil and splash out of the spout, you need to do three things: 1. Don't fill the kettle more than 80% 2. Set the timer to the range so it warns you when when the kettle is about to boil (just experiment with the first batch and mark the start and end times) and 3. Be sure to choose the small grommet on the top of the stove so that the handle of the kettle does not exposed to excessive heat (this is not a problem with induction cookers, but you should still use the smallest lug you may have as these cookers will sense pot size and sometimes will not work with pots that are too small.) If you have a Using gas stove, don't let the flames crawl over the edge of the kettle and up. on the sides as you could damage the handle and/or burn your hand. Finally, the temperature sensor did not or did not fall. fogs up and continues to function normally. I think I've answered all of the other reviewers' objections to this kettle. If I run into any problems in the future I will update this review. Bottom Line: I can tell you what coffee I've made (using this kettle, the Cafelissimo stainless steel filter, and the 32 oz/1 liter Smart Flask flask-insulated thermos of organic medium-to-fine roast dark and dark coffee). medium roast, fair trade, ground in a simple Braun knife grinder) made a wonderfully smooth and full-bodied cup of coffee, without the acidity that used to accompany my French coffee. press efforts. Thanks to Revain.com I put this entire system together for less than $100!
