Well designed quality product

UPDATED: Well designed quality product. All skimmers are loud, but the pump is instantly quiet. Slight vibration/noise that went away as soon as the pump leaked and broke - after about three weeks. It started collecting waste within an hour of installation and continued to work very well. The only "downside" I can think of so far is that it's a flashy device that rises significantly from the back of the tank, but at least looks cool. I like the blue case and wanted to modify the unit with black PVC elbows and black pipes as they are grey/yellow on my tank but I'm used to it. All parts included are functional and of high quality, so there is no reason to change anything. It's expensive for a hob, but you definitely get what you pay for here. UPDATE: This is a powerful little skimmer for its size. It works great with my 55 gallon all in one reef tank and removes a ton of waste. Very little breakage was required. After a few weeks, the pump itself is now silent. There is a normal gurgle and a slight gurgle coming out of the exhaust pipe, but that's only because I made a few modifications to better fit the pipes. I choose it and it will be almost silent. Very happy with the purchase and would recommend to anyone who has a smaller tank that needs to work with a hob. One thing I've noticed is that the muffler tends to accumulate quite a bit of salt, so I take it apart and clean it every time. I'm cleaning the drip tray for the second time. At the same time, I inject RODI water into the yellow hose with a plastic syringe to clear the air intake of salt. I've seen what was recommended on the forum and found it to be good practice.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Modern
