I have been in the construction industry for over 37 years and have always found my way around Styrofoam. For my latest build, I decided to try one of these "professional" versions. I bought a few styrofoam cans from big stores, one for doors and windows and one for filling big gaps. I also took three cans of construction glue with me as I had some foam board to install and I was really expecting this tool to be able to supposedly make a flat bead for this project. The door and window opened for about a minute, screwed it to the gun and it started pouring all over the floor. So I didn't think I needed to read the foam can instructions, but I went back and checked them. Of course, one of the most common mistakes was over-tightening the cans. Okay, so maybe my fault. I spent about 15 minutes flushing the gun with acetone and firing again. Everything seemed to be working fine this time until I put the jar on the floor. I notice the foam under the gasket covering the trigger leaking out and growing and growing! So I contacted the company and they agreed to send me an updated model of the FNS 500. No complaints about customer service. These people seem to want to do whatever it takes to make things right. I received my new gun today and I have to admit it's awesome! black and smooth (teflon coated no less), and I approached the site with renewed confidence! all over the floor. I released the tension and stopped the leak, but there was no pressure or foam. The only way to highlight the foam is to screw the jar tighter, after which it began to leak from above. It seemed like there was no middle ground. A large ball of foam fell from the gun onto my pants, so say goodbye to $50 jeans. Didn't impress. I tried one of my large gap jars and it seemed to leak at a crawl, but at least it didn't leak. A bit sticky and never got it to flow properly despite unscrewing the control knob 4+ turns. I took one of the cans of acetone cleaner and cleaned the entire gun and wiped everything down. The large rift-filling canister was dead, even though it was 80% full. The door and window cannot be used due to leaks. So I really don't know what to say. Not sure if it's the gun, the cans, or both, but it's hardly economical. I've never had problems like this with cans. So far I've bought about six cans of so-called "pro" foam and tried two different guns. Both pistols had problems and all but one had problems. In terms of power and performance, I like the wonderful roller these guns can produce, but I can't say I get much more power than one of the spray cans, definitely not enough to justify triple the price. Price. So if I had to do anything again, I would never buy one of these guns again. After I've used what I have I'll probably go back to spray guns as I don't think they're worth the hassle and don't seem very economical. With what I spent on this setup I could buy enough spray cans for 10 jobs. I hope others have better luck, but my results have certainly been disappointing.
