Review on OXO Grips 12 Inch Locking Tongs by John Hall

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good design - kitchen gadgets and gadgets

I love these tongs from Oxo and they work almost as well as their uncoated brethren. I say "almost" because for some reason the "arrows" don't always line up exactly, but since they're only slightly offset I'm not going to complain. I have tried other pliers that are much worse. With these pliers, I've found that this very small amount of displacement doesn't seem to affect performance at all. I would not use them in very high temperatures as the nylon can and will melt. But if they do melt, I promise you, the heat under your nonstick pan is too high and ruining your tongs is the least of your worries. Your non-stick pan will not last more than a year with this type of treatment. In moderate heat, nylon instruments will last for many years. I have a couple of nylon spoons that are 30 years old and although they do break they haven't melted at all. What I WILL complain about is that I saw the exact same beautiful flower tongs for $7.99 at Publix yesterday. . It seems Oxo is now doing things for other labels that are selling for less. I've always been a fan of Oxo because they're rarely absent. I'm still a fan, but from now on I have to go shopping and that's annoying. However, these are very good pliers. I highly recommend them, but I suggest you look under a different label for a better price.
