Review on Eufy Fingerprint Electronic Touchscreen Weatherproofing by Dev Gotoda

Revainrating 3 out of 5

There are no spare batteries, the motor must be much more powerful.

Update 12/06/2021: The battery has been dead for a month and needs frequent charging. The WiFi connection drops frequently and I suspect that this and the auto-lock feature are the cause of the battery life issue (the battery pack could also be defective). Contact support to request a battery or lock replacement. I'm not sure if the WiFi issue is due to bad hardware or a bad firmware update. Three stars for: - Needs improved instructions. I couldn't find a digital copy on their website (would have preferred to find answers to questions before purchasing). Also, the battery cover was stuck on mine and the manual didn't give clear instructions on how to remove it - Weak motor - No spare batteries available - The battery indicator should be next to the lock name in the Eufy app. You have to click on the lock and download it before you can see the remaining battery. Not sure if this is correct. Received today, installed in 10 minutes. While the instructions could have been MUCH better, connecting and registering fingerprints was quick and easy (with the exception of an app crash when starting the fingerprinting process). I charged the battery after I was done as that would be more efficient. It took less than 2 hours to fully charge the battery. If your current deadbolt sticks a little on the striker plate or wooden post you will need to file it down as the motor is very weak and won't budge due to the extra resistance. .I would really like to bring a spare battery, or they allowed using the AA cartridge. I would feel a lot better if I could replace the battery if there is a problem. Fingerprint, the numbers on the panel light up to show you where you are / how many times you've pressed the panel. Useful when you can't hear voice prompts. Also, there is an option to turn off sound effects, which is good because they annoy me. The app asked me to install a firmware update and it took me less than 3 minutes (the app estimated the install time). Not bad. The update didn't fix a bug with the auto-lock feature. The auto lock function will not work in time when the specified interval is set. While the keys look weird, they're not that different from a regular pin and tumbler lock, so you can't duplicate them locally for now. A locksmith can pick the lock at the local hardware store if you ever need one. I wonder if this device is the same as the nameless brands that are sold at half price? There are a few that are strikingly similar to this device. Not sure if this device retails for $240. Let's see if it lasts and how reliable it is. If it works well I plan to replace all my external locks with it.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Some bugs
