I needed an inexpensive solution for making late coffee after the group coffee pot in the office was off for the day. This press did a great job! I could make one mug for myself or up to three mugs (a decent size) for me and my friends. Simply add some boiling water, a few heaping tablespoons of ground coffee (I had to experiment to find the right amount for each person) and after about 2-3 minutes press. The press is relatively easy to clean, although the glass does show water stains. The only reason for the loss of 1 star is the filter - I had almost separated it from the plunger once or twice, usually because a couple of bases got stuck between it and the plunger. This was fairly easy to fix with a vigorous rinse, but can still be annoying (such drinks tend to have some ground coffee at the end). The great thing about presses in general, unlike traditional coffee filters, is that the oils from the beans, which give the coffee a smooth, rich flavor, are not caught by the paper filter and are not discarded. I've found that I can make and enjoy both a very strong coffee for a significant caffeine boost, and a much lighter drink for flavor and still be happy with the result no matter what.
