Poor mounting system, not recommended

This is for the Rosewill 80mm RCX-Z775-LP low profile CPU cooler (because it seems other fan reviews are related). I used this fan in my first PC build. I immediately had heat issues and eventually had to replace this fan with a more powerful one. While the mounting system is relatively easy to install, I found the fan didn't sit well on my CPU. The thermal paste that came with it was crap, so I reinstalled it with premium thermal paste, but the fan just couldn't stay right in the standard PC configuration (upright). To be honest I'm lucky I didn't burn my CPU as I initially thought there was a problem with my motherboard's temperature sensor. If you're using the motherboard in a horizontal (rather than vertical) position and not doing anything too intense, then this is probably a great product, but it's an incredible niche in a realistic application. Current build (for reference): NZXT Source 530 full tower computer case, Intel i5 6600K, Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo CPU cooler, ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1060 Mini (6GB), Crucial Ballistix Sport LT 2400MHz DDR4 DRAM (2 x 8GB ), EVGA 600 B1 (Bronze 600W), Seagate 2TB HHD + Samsung 256GB SSD (will be installed later) and a DVD reader/writer.

Pros
  • Brilliantly made
Cons
  • Can I add something
