Review on πŸ” SVBONY SV503 Telescope 80ED F7 OTA: Enhanced Views & Astrophotography by Mike Donathan

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Cool and easy to buy. The kicks are well above their price. Great service experience from SVBONY too.

The first one delivered was ok but the rotator didn't stop when the thumbscrew was tightened. SVNONY/AMZN sent me a replacement which is good. The scope itself is so sharp that all higher level areas will be very minimal/incremental upgrades, but you pay 100 more. Compared to Nexstar 5 SE, Astronomics 70mm ED, Apertura 72mm and Skywather 72mm evostar, they are all in the same league. But SVBONY, when it retails for just $330, is an unbeatable value. Note that the rest of the optical system is also very important, so we have SVBONY Red Dielectric Dielectric, SVBONY 50mm Auto Guide/Finder, 32mm Plossl, SVBONY 8-24mm Zoom EP, Agena Astro 5mm Wide Angle Dual ED EP . . There are also important SVBONY UHC and variable ND filters. With all of this in Manila Altazimuth, it's very clear whether you're looking at the Moon, Jupiter, Saturn, or Venus. Just register with AP and this scope will go well with ZWO AS120MS wide angle camera with PHD2 and Sharpcap. In short, a great scope for beginners and hobbyists looking for a quality scope to start with rather than a cheap department store. As already mentioned, the FL51 ED lens with lanthanum glass inside does a great job. The R&P focuser is great and is preferred over the Crayford types that slip under heavy EP or camera loads. By the way, SVBONY needs to improve its English and translation. There is a typo "Dual Foucs" instead of "Dual Focus" on the front of the telescope at the edge of the lens.
