This unit is great in its own right. The small size is incredible. We use it on 2 devices, both Macs. I even use it on an expansion port with an imac because the USB is at the back. There is no problem for the Mac to recognize the device. The reader is about the size of a small USB stick and protrudes slightly. Just be careful not to install anything on your CAC card or reader while using it. Customization is a different story, but it's not the device's fault.
