I'm so bad at writing. It helped me to write directly and where it should be. I love that it comes with four different envelopes to help me with different types of envelopes. They are made of thick and hard plastic. Very well done. They have a rough texture so they don't slip or slide across the envelope. I used mine for my save the date wedding invitations and we have smooth glossy envelopes and the roughness of the plastic allowed me to putting it on the envelope and it didn't shift. I'm left-handed too, so I tend to push things when I'm writing and they definitely stay in place. I especially like the measuring tool on the sides so I know where to put even a random sized envelope rather than your main envelopes. Your plastic is translucent, rather cloudy, but visible.
