I am artistic. The drawing is done without a template. No tracking. The problem was that none of the templates matched the shape of the pumpkins. I tried using a template for the Headless Horseman but it was a disaster after following the instructions. Y'all empty your guts and cut right through. Very difficult because you have to thin the sides of the INSIDE to let the light through. This pumpkin made some great appetizers after a VERY disappointing try. In this photo, I just dug into the skin a little and left the guts inside. As you can see it is looking better after leaving it for about a week. So if you can look at the pattern and draw freehand, great. If not, this template book won't be of much help as you won't be able to see the design unless you know how to do the job like a pro.
