Review on πŸ“ Starrett 505A 7 ProSite Protractor for Enhanced SEO by Jason Porter

Great tool for cutting flat wall moldings or chair upholstery! May not be the best option for crown shaping.

Robust and precise tool. Essential for wall baseboards such as chair rails and baseboards. Very nicely finished and it is worth using aluminum instead of less hard plastic. My only wish is that there are also the absolute angles of the walls on the back (which is blank). This tool only specifies degrees for a single or double (oblique) cut angle for cropping. But if you just want to use it as a wall protractor, it's not that useful. (For example if you are placing it on a 120* wall there is no indication of 120* on the marking, instead you are given 2 different cut options for single or double cut to match the finish to that 120* wall angle., but in doesn't show the absolute angle of the wall at 120* anyway. But it does exactly what it advertises for cuts, and it does it very well gives absolute values for the angle of the wall (which is often needed for spreadsheets or applications that use the crown shape -solve cutting tasks where you input the crown feather angle and the absolute angle of the wall and this gives the miter saw settings for crown bar cutting)

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Expensive
