I was surprised my parrots weren't scared when I showed them the perch. They're usually very suspicious of new materials, but they just happily jumped on it without hesitation :) I think it's pine, but can't confirm. I'm not sure what material the screws are made of, but I found later that my parrots couldn't get to them, so I was happy. The washers arrived rusted but again that doesn't matter as I previously bought my own stainless steel washers from Amazon. So if they're happy then so am I :) Update: A month later my parrots had already chewed off the wood exposing the metal fittings in the wood and the pole came loose. After you delete that branch, another branch will supersede it. Hence 1 star deduction.
