Review on Controls TSS1XP Heavy Duty Single Automatic by James Nielsen

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works well. Installation will take some time, but it's worth it.

I have no experience with gate openers. I took my time with the installation to make sure I was doing it right. It took me a whole weekend. Maybe you can do it faster. But I'm very happy with the results. I should also note that I have a particularly difficult setup involving concrete poles, a concrete wall to make sure everything is clean, and a concrete driveway to figure out how to route the cable. It would be a lot easier if I had gravel or mud, not a wall and wooden posts. Very happy with how it works and the parts and motors seem very solid. The time will show. As much as we love the system, I'm deducting a star for a few things that could be better: - It's not a cheap system. However, 12V batteries are sold separately. You don't have to spend the extra $119 for a battery box kit (required) with two batteries. For an $800 do-it-yourself kit, everything should be included. Or just calculate $920 and include everything. It annoyed me. The hardware appears to be of good quality. But there were a couple of screws that I thought should have been a bit longer to make installation easier. So I went to the hardware store and bought the exact same screw, just a little longer. I'm not a fan of Ghost Controls' own open rate. I had a 433.92 "learnable" controller that I kept on my bike that I wanted to use, but it didn't work with the opener. I was able to program the button on my wife's car to open perfectly. I don't know whether it is a "Homelink" system or an in-house development by Mercedes-Benz. But it took less than 30 seconds. to program one of your car's control buttons. For the bike, instead of using my existing controller, I spent another $39 and bought a Ghost Controls waterproof controller to install on the bike. Works well. The kit contains several different parts that attach the lever to the gate. One of them is for typical tubular steel gates. The second is for gates with bars. ornamental or driveway etc. I had to make an attachment point for the hardware supplied with the opener. However, I cannot refuse any of these as it is probably not possible to supply a kit for every possible type of gate. However, this should be noted. I'm not the manufacturer but I'm attaching a photo of what I used with the spare aluminum I had. It comes to the gate and works great. But I had to figure that out myself. I want GC to make a wireless button. They have a wireless keyboard and a few other options. But I want guests to be able to just push a simple button, open the gate and leave. There are such buttons, but they don't work with GC systems. So maybe this is an idea for a future product. My wife was concerned that the opening arms would look unsightly. She planned to paint the black plastic with aluminum to match our goal. But when I installed it she thought it still looked good and she noted that it was already quite discreet. Overall we are very satisfied with the opener. We have almost all the necessary functions and the system works well. Despite the small inconveniences, I would recommend it to everyone. Likewise. I wish I had known this earlier: Ghost Controls gives a discount to the military and first responders, but I guess that only applies if you buy it from their website. The price is the same as Revain.
