What can go wrong? This iron has a plastic part that can be unscrewed so you can remove the iron and change attachments. It's made out of fairly thin, cheap, and flimsy plastic. Many things are made of plastic, but this element is necessary to hold everything together. This is something you should screw in tight enough to hold the iron securely with no slack. I feel like I had a fairly gentle approach to making the part secure and found it broke as I carefully tightened it. Something broke and now it won't hold up at all. You must take care of your belongings and they will last you for a long time. Like I said, I think I pulled it to a reasonable degree and it didn't hold up. Let's be honest, we know it's not a quality product, that's why it's cheap. That's why you're here. That's why you read one-star reviews. Maybe you'll be gentler, maybe you'll get lucky. Probably no. This is not a quality product at all and there's a good chance this will be another disposable soldering iron on your journey and you'll be returning to Amazon within a year to look at the next tier of soldering iron prices. do yourself a favor skip it. After speaking to others I was advised to stick with the big names and was told that Weller makes both high quality soldering irons and economical models. The WLC-100 is only a few dollars more expensive than this one. And you'll find that this model has screw-on tips, not a cheap piece of plastic that attaches the iron to the base.
