I love these cases! You will definitely keep brown sugar fresh and soft if you use the terracotta stone properly. You don't want to soak the stone for too long or the brown sugar will get too wet and end up sticking together from all the water. Soak for exactly 15 minutes. (or less), wipe excess water off the stone with a paper towel and place on the top/holder of the container and close. Fresh brown sugar! Repeat every 3 months or so. So, I'm obsessed with marshmallows. I use them quite a bit, but sometimes not enough to complete a bag without them sticking and clumping. So I started using airtight containers. They would still stick together if I waited too long to use them. I finally tried using these marshmallow containers EXCEPT I don't soak the stone in water. Let the stone dry and put it in the container. It keeps the marshmallows from sticking together and keeps them nice and fresh. I've since started making my own marshmallows. I bought some terra cotta stones (brown canned sugar) and add them to all my marshmallow jars. keeps them so fresh. I definitely recommend this container; and all other size containers in the same style.
