When I paint, I use gouache, but I needed a material to experiment with quickly. This is my first experience with art chalk (besides anything I was able to do in elementary school). I needed a good range of colors at a reasonable price as I'm not sure how often I'll be using the crayons. I am very satisfied with this set. There's a good range of saturated colors that go well together. Of course, working with colored pencils is not at all like gouache, but for what I need they are enough.
